Steel players: Price rise should be higher

PETALING JAYA: Players in the steel and steel-related industry generally welcomed the Government’s move to raise the ceiling price of steel bars and billets by up to 20% but said the increase should have been higher. 

Effective Monday, the ceiling price of steel bars was raised to RM1,884 per tonne from RM1,570 previously while that for steel billets went up to RM1,553 per tonne from RM1,294.
