KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (Mida) expects by May to set up within its premises an Immigration Department unit to speed up the processing of applications from expatriates working in Malaysia.
Mida director-general Datuk R. Karunakaran said the unit would provide a friendly and conducive environment for expatriates to get their necessary documents approved, including passes for their dependents and children.The services provided by the unit would be for all expatriate posts in the manufacturing sector and manufacturing-related services handled by Mida, he told reporters at the sideline of the Can Malaysia Remain a Viable Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Destination? forum yesterday.
