Need to tackle issues in industry, say players


Although real estate investment trusts in Malaysia (M-REITs) are becoming more popular amonglocal investors, industry players are hoping for more enabling legislation for the industry to be on amore competitive footing with other emerging and established markets. 

Industry players say that attracting foreign participation is important and that for Malaysia tobecome a REITs hub, issues such as equity ownership and more competitive tax legislations need tobe addressed. 

In a REITs roundtable discussion with StarBiz assistant news editor ANGIE NG and journalistKEITH HIEW, industry practitioners spoke on the market outlook and concerns.
