KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's inflation rate eased to a six-month low in August as a stronger currency helped contain prices of imported goods and oil costs eased.
The consumer price index added 3.3% from a year earlier, after a 4.1% gain in July, the Statistics Department said in a statement. Economists expected inflation of 3.6%, based on the median of 22 estimates in a Bloomberg survey. Prices fell 0.1% from July.
