Call to stabilise rubber prices


KUALA LUMPUR: International Rubber Consortium Ltd (Irco) must step in to help stabilise the sharp volatility in rubber prices, which have dropped by more than 30% over the past two months, Malaysia's Irco representative Datuk Dr Mahmood Abdul Kadir said. 

The price of Standard Malaysian Rubber SMR 20 is currently at RM6.49 per kg compared with the commodity's highest price of RM8.52 per kg in June.
