KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's energy demand may reach the equivalent of 74 million tonnes of oil a year by 2020, a multiplication of 2.6 times that of 1999 and 10 times that of 1980, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak.
Electricity usage growth would be the highest at 6.1% annually, Najib said, adding that demand for oil and petroleum products, natural gas and coal might also increase 4% annually until 2020.
