PETALING JAYA: A conference on Competition Law in Malaysia will be held next Monday to inculcate awareness of the need for the corporate sector to strategise and align their business practices accordingly.
The conference, jointly organised by RAM Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd and First Principles Sdn Bhd, is targeted at chief executive officers and industry leaders.
It will be opened by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal.
RAM chief economist Dr Yeah Kim Leng said in a statement the impending promulgation of the Fair Trade Practices Law represented a major stride forward in enhancing the competitiveness of the Malaysian economy.
Yeah said forum participants could learn to better prepare themselves so that they can cope up well with competition laws in foreign markets that they planned to enter.
He said the forum would also help participants understand competition law as a business tool instead of a threat, whether they are operating locally or abroad.
