IPOH: Rubber bearings as the base of a building can help prevent its destruction during an earthquake, said Malaysian Rubber Board Engineering Products and Design Unit head Dr Kamarudin Ab Malek.
“The technology, called base-isolation, may be homegrown but only one building in Malaysia uses it,” he told a press conference after the Institute of Engineering Malaysia's Public Colloquium on Earthquake.
