ANKARA, Turkey (AP): Turkey's president has rejected the Islamic-rooted government's candidate for Central Bank governor, the prime minister's office said Saturday.
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer turned down the nomination of Adnan Buyukdeniz, general manager of Islamic finance group Albaraka Turk, on Thursday, the prime minister's office said in a statement. Sezer also rejected the nominations of Mehmet Simsek and Birol Aydemir as vice governors, it said.
