KUCHING: TM Net Sdn Bhd plans to set up broadband lifestyle centres in key market areas this year, said chief executive officer Michael Lai.

He said the company, which had 500,000 broadband customers, wanted to make broadband a part of every Malaysian’s life.

“We are committed to connecting one million customers by the end of this year as part of the company’s strategy to play a catalytic role in realising the target set in the National Broadband Plan,” he added.

Lai said this at the company’s rewards and recognition night for its loyal subscribers here.

He said TM Net now had nearly 30,000 broadband subscribers and 100,000 dial-up subscribers in Sarawak.

“There are over 80 tmnet hotspot locations throughout the state providing subscribers with wireless connection to the Internet.”

He said the company hoped to be the ubiquitous broadband service provider in not only the peninsula but also Sarawak and Sabah by providing easily accessible and affordable products and services through multiple channels.

TM Net recently won the annual PC.com awards for best broadband Internet service provider for its tmnet streamyx service and best Wi-Fi hotspot operations for its hotspot service.
