Astro profit surges 57%

Astro All Asia Networks Plc, the country's biggest pay-TV operator, reported a 57% jump in net profit to RM228.8mil from RM145.4mil a year ago on revenue of RM2bil for the financial year ended Jan 31, 2006 (FY06). 

The company's earnings per share rose to 11.88 sen from 7.58 sen per share last year. It has proposed a final dividend of 3.5 sen per share, which lifts its FY06 total payout to 5 sen per share.
