PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) managing director Idris Jala does not hold the rubber stamp that he can use to approve all his proposals. A clear indication of this was when his proposal for a 10% hike in domestic airfare was rejected by the Government over the weekend – at least for now.
And if he thinks that he can wrangle all the prized major trunk routes that MAS needed for its international feed, he's better off knowing that his rival, AirAsia group chief executive Datuk Tony Fernandes, is not going down without a fight.
