Economists and analysts are generally optimistic that the Malaysian economy and the stock market will perform better this year barring unforeseen circumstances.
An economist from Standard Chartered Bank said all indications showed that Malaysia had a good start in 2006 with gross domestic product expected to rise 5.5%, buoyed by stronger export earnings in the semiconductor and oil palm industries, and strengthening of the ringgit.
