KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) reported a lower second quarter net profit from the same quarter a year ago, but attributed the decline to a much more aggressive provisioning policy instead of operating conditions.
The country's largest bank posted a net profit of RM634.1mil, or 16.9 sen a share, for its second quarter ended December 2005, compared with a net profit of RM693.5mil, or 19.13 sen a share, previously.
