  • MAXIS Communications Bhd has appointed Thomas Schnitker senior general manager and head of the consumer business division. 

    Prior to his appointment, Schnitker was with Telstra Mobiles in Australia where he was involved in the launching of Telstra’s WiFi business and managing the prepaid or youth and post-paid consumer businesses.

  • RANGKAIAN Segar Sdn Bhd, operator of Touch 'n' Go and SmartTAG, has appointed Basariah Abdul Latiff chief executive officer (CEO) with effect from Jan 6. Basariah was previously CEO of A&W (M) Sdn Bhd. 

  • STANDARD Chartered Bank (StanChart) has appointed Brad Levitt global head of capital markets and wholesale banking, effective Jan 1. 

    Levitt was the bank's managing director and head of Asian and Middle East fixed-income for the past eight years. 

    StanChart also appointed Anton Martin to head global investor sales in capital markets, effective Jan 1. 

    Martin, a former British tank commander who speaks fluent Cantonese, joined the bank as global head for distribution in Hong Kong in 2001.  

  • MINES City Hotel Sdn Bhd has appointed Leo Kusher general manager for Palace of the Golden Horses. Kusher, a veteran in the regional hospitality industry, has extensive experience in Switzerland, France and Britain preceding assignments in the United Arab Emirates. He has also served in various hotels in the South-East Asian region. 

  • Sheraton Subang Hotel & Towers has appointed Suresh Ramasamy and Ahmad Alham Daidiri sales director and executive chef respectively.

    A 15-year veteran in the hotel industry's food and beverage division, Suresh had been with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc since 1997. Before joining Sheraton Subang as banquet manager, he was with Sheraton Hanoi Hotel & Towers, Sheraton Suzhou Hotel & Towers (pre-opening team) and Sheraton Utama Hotel Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei as a pre-opening team for four years. 

    Ahmad Alham has more than 15 years of experience. He has served in several hotels including ITT Sheraton Hotel Penang, Avillion Village Resort Port Dickson, Desaru Impian Resort Johor and The Andaman Datai Bay in Langkawi. 

    The hotel also appointed Selveen Muniandy and Elaine Aisyah Six Sigma director and marketing communications manager respectively. Selveen is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt & Black Belt by General Electrics US and also a member of International Society for Six Sigma Professionals. He has more than nine years experience in the aviation industry working with Malaysia Airlines and GE Engine Services Malaysia.

    Aisyah began her career in 1999 as sales manager in a hotel in Singapore before moving to public relations and returning to work in Kuala Lumpur.
