Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger said the US$7.4bil purchase of Pixar will help return the media company to its 82-year-old roots.
Iger, who took over as CEO less than four months ago, said Pixar will restore Disney's animation business, which created characters such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Burbank, California-based Disney lost market share in the past decade to computer-animation studios such as Pixar, maker of “Toy Story.”
