TOKYO (AP) - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. will build the world's largest plasma display panel plant in western Japan to meet increasing demand for flat-panel televisions, media reports said Saturday.
Matsushita, which makes Panasonic brand products and considered a leader in the TV industry, plans to invest 160 billion yen (US$1.38 billion; euro1.14 billion) to build the plant in Amagasaki, Hyogo prefecture (state), about 400 kilometers (250 miles) west of Tokyo, according to Japan's business daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun.
