Datuk Seri Liew Kee Sin, group managing director/CEO of S P Setia, is happy with the group's performance in the last financial year and sees strong underlying demand for residential properties. In uncertain times, consumers are likely to be more selective and SP Setia aims to provide an array of quality products, comprehensive infrastructure and thematic landscaping.

Microsoft Malaysia managing director Butt Wai Choon says it is difficult to assess how Microsoft has grown the local IT economy through its investments. The number of local partners has grown from a handful to about 5,000, and the company also has about 800 independent software vendors within its network, which is probably the largest in Malaysia, he says.

Malaysia needs to find new ways to attract foreign direct investments (FDIs) and retain existing ones, said Ernst & Young (Malaysia) country managing partner See Huey Beng. He expects to see steady FDI growth next year, given the optimistic outlook for global FDIs in 2006.
