KPJ Healthcare Bhd is finalising the acquisition of another healthcare centre, chairman Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim said.

He said KPJ aimed to complete the acquisition by early next year.

“The healthcare centre, which is currently operating in a profitable position, will be the 15th hospital for KPJ's network of hospitals in the country,” he told a media briefing in Putrajaya yesterday.

KPJ already has 14 hospitals in Malaysia, two in Indonesia, and two in construction – one each in Bangladesh and Indonesia.

Ali said KPJ was also planning to list KPJ Healthcare real estate investment trusts (REIT) early next year.

“The REIT, which is an Islamic REIT, will enable us to raise RM340mil by unlocking the value of our assets,” he said.

“We intend to maintain 40% of the shareholding of REIT. We may consider diluting our shareholding at a later data,” he added. – Bernama
