TEHRAN, Iran: Parliament handed a major embarassment to Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday, rejecting his third straight nominee for the vital post of oil minister and highlighting splits among the country's conservatives.
Mohsen Tasalouti failed to win a vote of confidence after lawmakers argued that he lacked sufficient experience to run the Oil Ministry, which controls the industry that generates 80 percent of Iran's public revenues.
