Bilateral trade up 40% after agreement

BILATERAL trade between Asean and China has boomed since both parties signed a free trade agreement (FTA). Trade has grown at an average rate of nearly 40% since 2002, hitting US$106bil (RM403bil) last year, and surpassing the US$100bil mark one year ahead of schedule.  

Trade volume reached US$95bil in the first nine months of the year, according to statistics from China’s Ministry of Commerce.
