SEOUL, South Korea: Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest automaker, reported Thursday that its third-quarter net profit rose a more-than-expected 27 percent from a year earlier as robust earnings at overseas units and gains from share investments in affiliates offset production losses from a strike.
The company said it earned 534.9 billion won (US$512 million; euro423 million) in the three months ended Sept. 30 - up from 421 billion won (US$403 million; euro333 million) a year earlier.
