WELLINGTON, New Zealand:: New Zealand's Reserve Bank on Thursday raised its benchmark cash rate by 0.25 percent to 7 percent in a move aimed at cooling inflation and warned further rises may follow.
Bank governor Alan Bollard took a step widely anticipated by analysts as a warm housing market and high oil prices pushed the annual inflation rate to 3.4 percent, above the bank's 1 to 3 percent target band.
