It is a budget to foster a business friendly environment, as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi puts it. 

In a kick-off to the series of tax incentives for business, pioneer status – principally a tax holiday – has been enhanced. Now, companies are allowed to carry forward the accumulated losses and unabsorbed capital allowances during their pioneer-status period and deduct these from their post-pioneer income.
