DESPITE the shortcomings, most industry observers and players do not see a need to abolish the Approved Permit (AP) system, but have called for its revamp in the National Automotive Policy.
Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (Mier) executive director Emeritus Professor Mohamed Ariff believes the solution is not to scrap the AP system, but to ensure there are proper checks and balances to prevent abuse.
