Malaysia's Islamic banks among the fastest growing

THE Malaysian Islamic banking industry has been charting average annual growth of 19% in the past five years compared with between 10% and 15% per annum in other parts of the world, the Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM) president Datuk Norazman A. Aziz said.

“This makes the Malaysian Islamic banking and takaful system one of the fastest growing in the world,” he said at the launch of the Islamic Banking & Takaful Week 2005 - Your Financial Partner (IBTW 2005) in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
