LONDON (AP) - British telecommunications company BT Group PLC reported a 24 percent increase in quarterly net profit Thursday, boosted by strong demand for its new wave services such as high-speed Internet connections.
The firm said its strategy of focusing on new services as revenues from traditional land-line services drop off is proving profitable, with net earnings for the first quarter of the fiscal year rising to 374 million pounds (US$652 million; euro543.33 million) from 302 million pounds.
