MANILA, Philippines (AP) - Philippine stocks rose Tuesday as investors bought up companies that announced strong first-half earnings, such as Petron Corp., the country's largest oil refiner.
The benchmark 30-company Philippine Stock Exchange Index gained 5.18 points, or 0.3 percent, to 1,959.58, after losing 0.3 percent Friday. The market was closed Monday for a holiday.
