LONDON (AP) - European shares closed lower Tuesday, restrained by declines in oil companies and a stronger euro, though improved earnings forecasts gave a lift to Alcatel and L'Oreal.
Germany's DAX Xetra 30 index finished down 0.2 percent at 4,653, while France's CAC-40 index also shed 0.2 percent to 4,313.7.
