EC, Bank Negara hold conference on role of euro

10 Clicks To Victory ContestTHE European Commission (EC) and Bank Negara are hosting today a 3-day conference themed Expanding Asean-EU Economic Links - The Role of the Euro in Kuala Lumpur.  

The conference will explore issues on strengthening economic and financial relations between Asean and the European Union (EU), as the role of the euro in Asia and the international financial system becomes increasingly important. 

Financial market developments and prospects in Asean and the EU would be discussed, as were opportunities for increased trade and investment between the two trading blocks, a statement said.  

Prominent speakers like the Philippines’ former Finance Secretary Jose Isidro Camacho, former Thai Commerce Minister Dr Narongchai Akrasanee, European Central Bank executive board member Jose Manuel Gonzalez-Paramo, European Commission’s Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs director-general Klaus Regling, will share perspectives and experiences on economic and financial integration and the significance of the euro in the global and Asean landscapes.
