MALAYAWATA Steel Bhd expects to increase annual output by 40% to 900,000 tonnes within the next three years without having to invest heavily in new equipment, said president Datuk Lim Hong Thye.
He said this was possible with the research and development (R&D) agreement on electric ARC furnace operations with Germany’s Badische StahlEngineering GmbH (BSE) that Malayawata inked in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
