MALAYSIA'S proposal for the setting up of an Asian Infrastructure Development Initiative (AIDI) could be a long-term solution to funding difficulties for some of the major infrastructure projects in Asia.
Economists and construction industry players said the proposed fund could be an important catalyst for infrastructure development in the region in future amid the difficulties in obtaining funds for mega projects, which could have far reaching economic benefits for the region.
