SINGAPORE: Singapore Telecommunications Ltd said yesterday its quarterly profit jumped almost 40% on a deferred tax benefit, strong performance at its Australian Optus unit and growth in emerging markets operations.
SingTel, South-East Asia's most valuable company with a US$26.5bil market value, reiterated its medium-term target of increasing core earnings at double-digit rates but warned that revenue gains in the mature Australian market would slow.
