SINGAPORE: Growth in the manufacturing sector is on track despite the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) slipping to 49.7 points in April from 50.8 points in the previous month, economists said.
This is the first time in 22 months that the PMI has fallen below 50 points. A reading below 50 indicates a contraction in the manufacturing sector.
