  • MEMS: MEMS Technology’s shares added one sen to 78 sen yesterday on heavy volume of 13.7 million shares. Dealers said buying interest was spurred by market talk that the company had secured initial contracts for its silicon microphones, particularly from Hong Kong and Japan, this month.

  • Kumpulan Emas: KUMPULAN Emas shares closed at their day’s high of 24.5 sen on fairly heavy volume of 9.4 million shares. Dealers attributed the buying interest to speculative rotational play, as there was no fresh development since last month when SEG International Bhd, its private education unit, said it planned to invest RM100mil in three new campuses, which will come onstream next year.

  • Opcom: SHARES in this fibre optic cable maker closed three sen higher at RM1.54 yesterday with 182,800 shares exchanging hands. A dealer said reports on the group’s aggressive expansion overseas and its earnings growth prospects over next two years had sparked some new interest in early trade.
