LONDON: Europe's biggest defence company, BAE Systems, yesterday agreed to buy US rival United Defense Industries for US$3.974bil cash to bolster its position in the fast-growing land systems sector.
BAE said it would pay US$75 a share for the maker of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and finance the deal with a new US$3bil debt facility and a placing of around £375mil, or US$715mil, in shares.
