BANK Negara wants local and foreign banks operating in Malaysia to set up Islamic banking subsidiaries to accelerate the country's growth as an Islamic financial hub for the international community.
Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akthar Aziz said that banks would also be allowed to divest up to 49% of their shares in the Islamic subsidiaries.
