Stockbrokers likely to report good results for last year

MOST stockbroking firms were likely to have had a good year last year in tandem with the strong market performance, analysts told StarBiz. But the smaller brokerages that depended heavily on retail clients might see flat earnings, as retail participation was limited. 

“Performance should be better, since the market picked up last year; and especially for institutional dealers, due to the entry of many foreign funds,” Prudential Unit Trust senior manager Esther Ong said.
