Singapore’s economy grew at a surprisingly strong annualised rate of 7.9% in the fourth quarter of 2004 but weakening technology demand pushed down exports last month and pointed to slower economic growth ahead.
The strong December quarter lifted average growth for the whole of 2004 to a better-than-expected 8.4%, the government said yesterday, marking Singapore’s fastest expansion in four years.
