TOKYO: Sharp Corp is buying Fujitsu Ltd's liquid crystal display (LCD) business, the latest consolidation in the fast-growing but highly competitive market for thin displays.
Sharp's announcement yesterday followed news earlier in the day that Matsushita Electric Industrial Co and Hitachi Ltd will tie up in plasma panels, another type of display used in flat TVs, whose makers have been battered by price falls.
