Packer richest man in Australia, NZ


Australian media magnate Kerry Packer, who has a net worth of US$5bil, has topped the list of the 40 richest people in Australia and New Zealand compiled by Forbes magazine for publication in its Feb 7 issue. 

Packer is chairman of Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd (PBL), which owns Australia's Channel 9 TV station and a majority of magazines published in the country. The company also has gambling interests including the Burswood and Crown casinos and various other Internet, media and financial interests.
