Malaysia's economy is expected to grow 5.7% this year, down from an estimated 7.2% last year, the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (Mier) said.
With the threat of rising oil prices abating somewhat now, the deceleration in global growth could be more gradual, executive director Prof Dr Mohamed Ariff told reporters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday in announcing Mier's economic outlook for fourth-quarter 2004.
