S&P: Good returns from mutual funds in 2004

RETAIL mutual funds registered for sale in Malaysia produced a respectable average return of 7.08% in 2004, with the gains driven mainly by a rally in the fourth quarter, an analysis conducted by Standard & Poor's (S&P) Fund Services concluded. 

In a statement yesterday, S&P, the provider of fund research and analysis globally, said the best-performing category in 2004 was Asset Allocation, which had funds with investments in equity, fixed income and money market securities with an average return at 7.97%.
