Bids for Doha airport jobs to be considered on merit

DOHA: Malaysian construction companies vying for jobs in the US$2.5bil first phase of the New Doha International Airport project in Qatar are assured that their bids will be evaluated based on merit, and not the influence of their “local connections”. 

“Connections have no impact at all in the evaluation of tender bids,” said project director Peter Pappas, of Overseas Bechtel Inc, the designerand project manager at the symbolic groundbreaking of the project by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah Khalifa Al Thani on Tuesday.
