Wong Wee Woon

  • INFORMATICS Group Malaysia has appointed Wong Wee Woon its new vice-president. He was president of Pearson Education Asia from 1999 to 2002 and based in Singapore. Prior to this, he was managing director of Longman Malaysia and Singapore from 1993 to 1998.  

    The textbook publisher for the Asian region and former schoolteacher has an MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, a bachelor of science (honours) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and certificate-in-teaching from MTC Penang. 

  • THE Pan Pacific Glenmarie Kuala Lumpur has appointed Yoshiaki Maruyama its new director of sales, Shahidul Azmir Said as education manager and Jefri Omar as pastry chef.  

    Maruyama began his career with Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts when he joined Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts Tokyo regional sales office in 1991 as assistant sales manager. He was promoted to sales manager within a few years and in 1996 was made international sales manager for Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows, Hawaii. In 2000, he joined Palau Pacific Resort as director of sales and marketing. 

    Shahidul started his career in the hospitality industry in 1990 as a customer service agent for a travel company in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1993, he became a lecturer in the School of Hotel and Resort Management at Institut Teknologi Tun Abdul Razak for five years before joining Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort as training manager. Prior to joining Pan Pacific, he was the training manager of The Andaman Langkawi. 

    Jefri, a Taylor's College graduate, began his culinary career by working as Commis I at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur in 1992. He was senior Chef De Partie at Pearl International Hotel KL before joining Pan Pacific.
