TAIPEI: Shares in Asian exporters, including Matsushita Electric Industrial Co and Hyundai Motor Co, rose on optimism that their sales will increase after a measure of US consumer confidence climbed to a five-month high.
“I'm pretty positive on exporters,'' said Takashi Kamiya, who oversees US$16bil as chief strategist at T&D Asset Management Co in Tokyo. “The US economic outlook looks good for the time being and rising confidence will help boost consumer spending.''
