SEOUL: Hyundai Motor Co, South Korea's largest motor vehicle maker, said 1,173 of its vehicles waiting to be shipped from the eastern Indian port of Chennai sank after a tsunami hit the area.
Hyundai Motors said the cars, mostly Accent compact cars and Atoz mini-cars, were bound for export to Mexico and Algeria. They were valued at 6 billion won (US$5.7mil) and were fully insured, Hyundai Motor said in a faxed statement.
