SCIENTEX Packaging Bhd (Scipack) showed a surprisingly strong start to its current financial year, posting a 57% increase in operating profit for the first quarter ended Oct 31over the preceding quarter.
A year-on-year comparison of results is not meaningful for Scipack as it had completed the acquisition of four companies from parent Scientex Inc Bhd in March this year. In Scipack's enlarged form, only the results for its third and fourth quarters last year and first quarter this year can be fairly compared.
