TOKYO: Fujitsu Ltd and Cisco Systems Inc have agreed to form a strategic alliance, focusing on routers and switches that will enable businesses to build advanced Internet Protocol (IP) networks.
The alliance could help Cisco defend its market dominance in Japan against inroads by Juniper Networks, which is fast gaining ground in the global market for big routers. For Fujitsu, the alliance with Cisco helps it get back into the router market, from which it announced earlier this year that it planned to quit.
