THE stock market put on its strongest showing in nearly five years yesterday on investors' optimism about Malaysia's economic growth ahead of Bank Negara's announcement today of good gross domestic product (GDP) numbers, analysts said.
The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) rose 7.12 points to 915.9 on strong support from institutional investors, who were targeting blue chips. The Emas Index gained 1.33 points to 215.53, but the Second Board Index slipped 0.49 point to 111.88.
